#juststuff3
No thoughts, just stuff, round 3!! I want to go to late night movie dates, I want to eat ice cream, I want to go eat out, I want to hold hands and feel fluffy. Isn't that what summer is for?
So many recommendations! I listed some things like always, but also added some gems that I’m into recently as well. Is it just me… or maybe because I recently once again was hit with another cliff hanger hook up…I’m longing for someone to just needing me? desire? Why can’t anyone out there feel the same way as I do about them? I always want to fall in love in summer, but since this one in particular, people are going out, covid is still here but the world is slowly coming back together, I don’t want to miss out. I have a massive fear of missing out always, even if it’s something I won’t miss in doing! but I do anyways… It comes from deep insecurities of not feeling like I have achieved anything, I feel like I need to do more, I need to experience more, whatever that ‘more’ is. The knowing ‘more’ and insecurity I have is that I never experienced what love is and that scares me. I want to do as many things as possible to find that love I’m looking for so I won’t miss the chance in falling for someone. God, am I reading too many romantic books? am I watching too many French movies and imaging a life in France? I feel like I’m going insane with this idea of searching for love, because it just feels like it will never happen for me. Don’t we all want to be told, ‘I want to just be with you’ ??
Books📕
-すべて真夜中の恋人たち by 川上未映子 ‘All the lovers in the night’
-Girl in pieces Kathleen Glasgow
I had this book on my shelf since….the early 2000s to be honest. I don’t think I will be able to grasp the pain and struggles the main character was going through if I have read it in my early teens. I haven’t experienced self harm like the main protagonist has, but I know what it feels like to be alone and feel like it’s you against the world and no one is by your side. I also know the joy in once you fall hard to ground but you find your people, you find the light, you find your tribe. It’s a little dark in places, but it also gives hope in humanity, if you like that sort of thing.

(Having a lot of Annie Lord moments because I’m reading her book now.)
-Is sex on a first date actually a good idea?
And when I walked out his door and down the road to get in my taxi I felt like I was in the scene of a film, one where I, the main character, was about to spin around a lamp post to a soundtrack of Katrina and the Waves, all jazz hands and big grins, to convey how the world can look different, brighter, after a shag.
God, I love this feeling. That moment of when you are waiting for a cab to go to whoever’s house, that moment after you already kissed and you know exactly what is going to happen next… the suspense and coy affection we burst out in the air…god I love it.
終わりは、いつだって終わりの顔をしてわたしたちを訪ねるようなことはしない。
This is why I am never good at goodbyes. It never comes the way you ‘rehearsed’ or ‘expected’. It never does. You can anticipate it, but once it comes, you never know how you react to it. It’s one of the most obscure thing that happens to all of us once in life.
-This is the summer of -going out book-
I’m kinda obsessed with this idea. I’m totally 100% ok and an advocate in reading in cafes and restaurants, I know some think it’s the most pretentious thing to do, but I love it. But she takes it further in saying that there are certain books that looks good with your outfit as well, like size, book cover design etc. I agree! Obviously, the book context matters, yes, but I do think walking around with a Japanese book in your hand is kinda cute because文庫本is actually really cute.
-I was dumped by the man I wanted to marry. This is how I got over it.

Podcasts 🎤
-Switched on Pop ‘Beyonce’s house’
If you’re into music breakdowns, this one was pretty good.
-Obsessed with… ‘Everything I know about love’
Because obviously Dolly was a guest on it, I had to, but their series on conversations with friends was FAB too.
-Celebrity Memoir bookclub '‘Chrishell Stause’
This was recommended to me by a friend, but I love the concept. Like who the fuck reads celebrity memoirs right?? But these girls read it for us and talks about the book.
-Pandora Sykes meets Tina Brown - The inside story of the royal family
If you eat up royal family stuff like me, this one is so good! Has anyone else read the palace papers? I heard it’s dreadfully long (but good), the audio book might be good as well?
-The Receipts podcast ‘everyone thinks my man is ugly’
The receipts podcast is really popular amongst the brit community but their advise segments are really good. Like solid straight up advise.
-Annie Lord Vogue columnist and author of notes on heartbreak.
-Desert Island Discs ‘Adele, Singer and songwriter’
Adele episode was sooooo goooooood. There is a reason why she does so little press, and when she does it’s amazing.
-Slow Burn Episodes on abortion and Roe vs Wade
if you want to know the history of Roe vs Wade and how it came about, this one is definitely a good series to listen to.
TV shows 📺
-Everything I know about Love
may I need to explain??? it was the best show ever. I cried each episode. Some cultural references is not something I got since I didn’t obviously grew up in the UK, but it was amazing. The soundtrack is BANGER, the wardrobe, the sentiment of female friendships and cherishing every single moment of the good and bad. It’s so amazing.
-P-Valley
Oh my GOD! So good! It’s so raunchy lol and out there, even I don’t understand some of the languages…. but it’s so good. It’s about a stripper club and all the other strippers and their lives. Not just about what it means to be a stripper but the stripper part is just an extension of themselves. It’s really a good watch with lots of draaamaaa.
-The Bear
Chefs? Blue aprons? White Ts? with tattoos? Sign me the fuck up! omg it’s the most eye candy show I’ve watched in a while… It is perfect for someone who is into watching cooking shows. But don’t watch it hungry…! like any other cooking shows, this is an obvious factor.
-Baby fever
This is a scandi drama comedy show on Netflix. I’ve been kinda out of touch with Netflix shows but god I loved this one!!! I feel like I never saw a show that the protagonist is a fertility doctor that helps people gets pregnant via insemination. (体外受精を専門に診てるドクター)I loved the storyline and the light heartedness.
-Loot
It’s an Apple tv show, but not my cup of tea… but everyone is talking about since Maya Rudolf is in it…. but don’t know. It just seemed cliché? Like you can predict every moment kinda?
-Life after Life (BBC)
This was a doom watching thing for me…. I loved it. It’s about a girl that keeps reliving life, and whenever she dies, she reborn’s again right from the beginning. Episode2 didn’t have any warning in advance, it was a rough watch to be honest…but I enjoyed the brilliant acting, the scenery.
